What color of wall paint would look good with purple counters and white appliances?

We just bought our first house and I need to update the kitchen/dining room walls. The cabinets are a dark honey oak stain, all appliances and sink are white, as is the tile. The countertops and backsplash are a dark purple. What color would look good on the walls? I’m not afraid of using color…in fact that is what I want to do!

Pecan color in a Satin finish, keep ceilings flat white. This look goes with everything, and is very rich looking
what about a mustard type gold? that is complimentary to purple
I would use a creamy yellow
Gold and yellow do compliment purple. But if your afraid of a mardi gra feel. You can stick to white to complement your appliances. You stick to the color wheel and go with something closely related with purple such as a shade of red or blue. A rose color or perhaps a periwinkle blue would go nicely with purple.
Since it is the dining room/kitchen something soothing or at not abrasive…maybe a light victorian rose. That would be a tint that’s half way between the purple and the white. Use a subdued shade or try a blending technique that takes it from light to darker from bottom to top.
I looked at sherwin williams colors and liked Unique Gray with dark purple for your walls.
Accent with very light yellows….like in hand towels and such…maybe even hardware…
Definitely a bright yellow would look good. You might also try three walls white and one wall a deep aqua or turquoise.. Pink would work with it but you might get sick of that pretty quick. Or you might try a pretty wall paper with some purple flowers in it if you’d rather have that than paint. Or try something REALLY bold – Paint the walls white, then put wide strips of masking tape from floor to ceiling at various intervals and paint the open spaces a matching purple – remove the masking tape and voila! you have striped walls.
My initial thought was a nice warm shade of kahki or stone.
If you are daring you could go with a sage. Green and purple supposely to compliment each other nicely. Green is my favorite color and I think it would look nice but it might not be for everyone.
A light shade of gold or buff would look great too with your cabinets and give your kitchen a warm feel. The gold/buff would look fantastic with an eggplant accent wall if you have a wall in the dining area.
If you are REALLY brave you could go with eggplant .. with all the white I don’t think it ‘ll look too dark… add some gold colored water goblets, ivory/honey candles, satin nickel cabinet hardware and some other spashes of warmer colors and it would be stunning.
Last thought, if you have special dinnerware that you love you could pick a color out of the pattern. Then you’ll be sure your dinnerware matches your kitchen!
The key thing is to think outside the box and don’t be married to the purple. Think of colors you like and that make you feel good .. I’ve learned from watching HGTV shows like Color-something-or-other… design on a dime.. re-design… you can make almost any color combination "work". The key is to keep things in balance. Good luck.
