How can I put a central heating duct into the bathroom floor without pulling up all the tiles?
Our house has a gas ducted heating system that a previous owner installed. There isn’t a duct in the bathroom, but we noticed one under the house sitting there ready for it. Is there a way I can put that into the tiled floor of the bathroom? The main problem is doing it without having to retile the bathroom – can I cut existing tiles without pulling the whole lot up?.
Alternatively, who do I need to pay to do this for me? A builder? A tiler?
This one we nomally do thru the toe space of the bathroom vanity…….that’s if you have one……..but if not ……come up thru the wall,,,,so as not to mess with the floor……If you can get under the house you really don’t have to pay anyone……but if you don’t have a jigsaw or sawsall have a carpenter do it for you…..he can cut from the bottom up and nail your furnace boot in and then cut you toe space out on your cabinet and install a duct grill(color of your choice) not hard to do…..just have to get correct dimension locations……….don’t worry …is easy job and should not cost much…….you can get it in, many different ways. And it’s nice to have the heat on your feet in the winter. Have fun………………nite
You don’t need a tiler.
A carpenter can do it.
you need to call an a/c-heating company. i work for one, and that’s what the boss has suggested. they have all the tools to do it.
A carpenter or a heating/cooling guy can put the vent in the wall.
Install it in your butt
Are we talking about ceramic tile here? The tiles are probably glued or cemented down quite well and would be difficult to remove. However, ceramic tile CAN be cut. Lowe’s sells a saw for ceramic tile that costs about $ 80. Lowe’s will also cut tiles for you. They used to charge 25 cents per tile.
