just to make some things clear, there is no shutter on the vent, it’s the types that is on the wall not the floor.
it’s a baseboard heater, so i really can’t find any shutter or any other mean to close it.

My place’s temperature is about 68 degrees during the day and about 53 degrees during the night, and I usually use my fireplace to warm up the apartment for about an hour or so two or three times a day, but I was wondering if that’s costing more money than turning up the heat on the thermostat? I’m trying to save money, so which would be a better option?

Hi,
I had a problem with the cutoff switch within my apartment for a few years (2-4). Do you think it might have damaged my electric appliances ?

Thank you
The frequency of the cutoffs was (on average) 3 times a week. Please note that the power fell completely, so I had to switch it back on, and the devices might have gotten a power surge after each of those cutoffs.
